Herbst
The Herbst is a growth guidance appliance. It was designed over 50 years ago and its use in orthodontic treatment has risen dramatically in the last 10 years.
The Herbst appliance helps the lower jaw to grow forward. Research has shown most patients with an "overbite" actually have a retruded lower jaw. This appliance is used in conjunction with braces and is worn for only nine months of the total treatment.
